I'm Thinking About Coming to Church

We are very pleased that you are considering visiting Meadville Church of the Nazarene!  We can't wait to meet you!  We recognize that it can be difficult for some people to go someplace new and meet new people.  If this describes you, perhaps the answers to the following questions will make it easier for you to come to church.

What is it like?

Meadville Nazarene is a friendly church with a family atmosphere.  We are not formal.  We will welcome you and hope to put you at ease and help you to feel at home.

By the way, there are coffee (and other beverages) and donuts available prior to Sunday School which starts at 9:45am.  This is for everyone and not just the adult class.  You will find these in the fellowship hall which is located in the part of the building closest to the street.  The building is easy to navigate.  You won't get lost!

What about my kids?

We love children at Meadville Nazarene!  You will often hear the pastor or a member of the congregation comment on how we love to hear the sounds of children in the church.  There are children's Sunday School classes at 9:45am and they join with us during the worship service and then are excused part way through the service to go to Children's Church.  If your child(ren) wish to stay with you in the sanctuary, that is fine.

We highly value the security and safety of the children.  The exterior door closest to where the children go for Children's Church is locked when they leave the sanctuary.  Our children and youth workers have their appropriate clearances to protect all of our children.

Where do I park?

There is a paved parking lot behind the church with an entrance door on the rear of the building.  This door will bring you into the foyer behind the sanctuary.  There is also some parking to the left of the upper side of the driveway.  From there you can enter the building either from the back door or from the one in the middle of the side of the building.  Just follow the sidewalk up alongside the building.

Is the building wheelchair accessible?

Yes, it is.  Enter the building through the side entrance where there are no steps.  The sanctuary, restrooms, fellowship hall, and nursery are on the ground level.  The adult Sunday School class meets on that level.  The children and youth meet for Sunday School class on the lower level (steps), but we will do everything we can to accomodate any mobility special needs.

What do I wear?

We tend to be casual in what we wear.  Some women may wear a dress, but many wear slacks.  Men mostly dress casually.  And, of course, children do not have to be dressed up fancy!!

How can I get connected?

When you come someone may offer you a welcome card to fill out, but if not you will find one in the pew.  We encourage you to fill it out with whatever information you wnat to share and then place it in the offering plate or hand it to the pastor after the service.  This will help us to be able to contact you to find out more about how the church can best serve you and help you to grow in your spiritual walk.

Am I expected to give an offering?

As a guest, you are certainly welcome to, but do not feel like you have to.  During the offering time we bring our offerings forward to place them in the plates.  Not everyone goes forward, so nobody will think a thing of it if you remain in your seat.

I want to come, but I don't have transportation.  Can someone give me a ride?

Absolutely, we will do our best to accomodate your needs.  Just call.

Other questions?

Feel free to call the church if you have any other questions.  If no one is in the office, leave a message and we will give you a call back as soon as possible.
